Every year since 2008, Brighton High School and Prairie View High School has had an intense rivalry football game that every one from town attends. This year’s brawl was held on Prairie View’s field, with PV coming out on top 62-25.

Tanner Pepin, BHS quarterback, threw for 160 yards. He had one passing touchdown on the first drive of the game. The Bulldogs had three rushing touchdowns against the Thunderhawks. The Bulldogs ran for 110 yards during the game.

The Thunderhawks had seven rushing touchdown while Ben Meraz, PVHS quarterback, threw for another.

The team worked hard all week, practicing many plays which were executed in the game. The boys’ hard work really showed off in the game.

“We should have watched more film and not messed around at practice as much. We weren’t physically or mentally prepared,” says Sam Kullberg, varsity football player.

Brighton’s defense and special teams did some work with 63 tackles and 3 blocked field goals. The defense was getting worn out easily because of having to almost constantly be on the field because of the suffering offense.

“We had lots of big great plays, but couldn’t keep a block very consistent,” said Adam Tabor, varsity football player.

The boys played as hard as they could, but some thing just didn’t go their way.

“We trained extra hard in practice to prepare the boys for this game, and I do not think the scoreboard reflects how hard they worked,” Casey Pelton, varsity offensive coach.
